MOSAIC BEGINNERS START UP

You will learn the essential mosaic design principles of Andamento and its cause-effect on laying styles and techniques. As a student you will to gain a creative underpinning for the direct and in-direct techniques of mosaic making.
Hands-on instructions for applying colour, light and tone to create visual texture, will assist students in creating a contemporary or classical inspired mosaic. Learn how to cut and shape glass mosaic tesserae and ceramic tiles into a vriety of shapes. Adhesive and grouting techniques are taught through hands on demonstration. A beginner project idea is provided and designed to assist your learning.

INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED STUDENTS MOSAIC COURSES
Students continue to attend classes on a weekly, monthly or by a 10 week term enrollment. A progression of project based learning is established to suit the individual student's learning.

Enjoy learning while viewing Scott Harrower's lastest Public Art installation at Gatakers Artspace. The workshop is a fully-equipped art studio within the recently restored historic Gatakers Warehouse, now housing the cities art collection and local artist's exhibitions. Students will to gain a creative underpinning of the Indirect technique of mosaic making, cutting and shaping of mosaic materials into a variety of shapes. Adhesive and grouting techniques are taught through hands on demonstration. Instructions for applying colour, light and tone to create visual texture, will assist students in creating a contemporary or classical inspired mosaic.
A beginner project is provided and designed to assist your learning.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

Pastels, photographs, etc) into mosaics
